This year’s musical is Once Upon a Mattress, and it’s sure to be another crowd-pleaser! The cast and crew have just started preparing, but they’re off to a great start. The musical is once again under the direction of Anne Wotherspoon (nee Schreiber), with music direction by Andrew Wotherspoon, tech direction by Christine Deetz, and choreography by Jaime Geers.
The story is based on the fairy tale The Princess and the Pea, although every fairy tale stereotype is flipped: the princess is tough and strong, the prince is spoiled, and the king is mute. The story is an enjoyable one with many laughs throughout. In fact, when the musical first debuted on Broadway, Carol Burnett was in the lead role, so her brand of humor is evident.
Mark your calendars now for April 4, 5, or 6th! And we will once again have a senior citizen matinee, although this year it will be on Tuesday, April 2nd. You won’t want to miss this fun show!
