Violet Loraine Johnson, 99, passed away peacefully at Sunset Hospice Cottage, leaving behind a legacy of love, family, and faith. Born on April 27, 1925, in Pine Island, Minnesota, she was the eldest of four children to Willard and Anna Walker. Violet grew up on the family farm near West Concord, MN, where she attended country school and high school. She cherished working alongside her father on the farm, tending to the dairy herd and embracing the joys of rural life.

As a young woman, Violet moved to Worthington, MN, with two close friends in search of work. She spent three years at Fairway Market before meeting Loren, a World War II veteran who had recently returned from overseas. The two married in September 1947 and spent 37 years farming in Lorain Township near Worthington before retiring to a new home in town.

A devoted homemaker, Violet was renowned for her culinary delights, including her caramel rolls, Christmas tea rings, apple pies, chocolate chip cookies, and memorable birthday dinners. She found joy in entertaining, frequently hosting widow ladies, missionaries, church Berean parties, and pastors with their families. Known for her vibrant spirit, Violet would even surprise her grandchildren by standing on her head. Her creativity extended to sewing and crafting, where she lovingly made quilts and other treasures for her family. She also enjoyed her daily walks, whether on the farm or in town.

Violet’s unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the cornerstone of her life. She deeply loved her husband Loren, her children, and her extended family, nurturing them with kindness and devotion.

She is survived by her children, Kent (Pam), Karen (Del), Dean (Barbara), David (Christine), and Daniel (Kathi), her brother Donald Walker, 13 grandchildren: Daniel, Sarah, Tyler, Jessica, Denise, Dustin, Megan, Drew, Greg, Jared, Kirsten, Caleb, Cole, and 22 great-grandchildren, along with many extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Loren, grandson Mark, brother Victor Walker, and sister Dorothy Miller.
