Our library was able to participate in an “Empathy Book Club.” New York Life Foundation provided funding of $400 to purchase books from First Book. Titles that we chose to purchase had to be about relationships and caring.
The book club (with EMPATICO as a partner) was designed to help students develop empathy, respect and understanding through reading and connecting to other students. Mrs. Olevson’s class connected with a 2nd grade class in Villa Rica, GA. We were able to meet once over ZOOM and send them a package with letters, questions and COBRA stickers. It was a great experience and we were able to get free books!
