On February 10th, the Triton Cobras hosted a fundraiser called Shoot for a Cure. Keri Ginder and Amy Fredrick took on the responsibility of continuing the events, which included 50/50 raffles, basketball game,s and a raffle of baskets donated by individuals and businesses in and around Dodge Center.

Girls basketball was held starting at 4:30 - 7th & 8th grade, JV and Varsity all played the Maple River teams. During the Varsity half time - there was a shooting competition consisting of students taking on the chance to make a half court shot. Over 30 kids attempted the shot but only one talented individual made the basket! Mason Maes, a 7th grade student at Triton who also plays on the boys basketball team was the sole player who made the basket, netting $100 for the fundraser, donated by an anonymous donor who had pledged to donate $100 for each half court basket that was made.

The 50/50 raffle that occurred at half time of each game was a success. Students volunteered to sell the tickets during the first half of each game and a winner was drawn and announced at each halftime. Pink t-shirts and beads were available for sale as you entered the gym foyer. The basket raffle was a great success. They sold hundreds of tickets and individuals had the opportunity to place their tickets in their desired basket. After halftime of the varsity game, the lucky winners for each basket were drawn. Individuals were able to take home their baskets that night! Great job to everyone who took the time and resources to make sure wonderful and creative baskets.

All in all the efforts of the night were a huge success. Keri and Amy set out to reach a goal of $5,000 and it sounds like with all of the amazing support from the local community they exceed that goal. It just goes to show you that we can have fun raising money for those in need.
