Lynn Julian Finne, 79, formerly of West Concord and Dodge Center, died Thursday, January 25, 2024 at W.A.L.T Home in Rochester where he and wife, Kathy, lived.

Lynn was born November 20, 1944 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of Nels and Opal (Sack) Finne. He graduated from West Concord High School in 1963.

He met Kathy “Kat” Dengler cruising the streets of “Finne-ville” in West Concord, and the two were married April 18, 1964 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in West Concord.

After high school, Lynn worked at the Faribault State School for a few years until he became a police officer in the town of West Concord. He enjoyed that job but it ended because he felt Kat and Colette were not safe when he worked the night shift.

He then began his career in the Dodge Center School District as a custodian. Lynn was loved by many students, faculty and staff. When students would get in trouble at school, they would have to work hours (for punishment) along side of him, helping him clean the school. However, they all loved working with him so much, it didn’t feel like a punishment at all!

Lynn had a gift, the gift of silly humor, and he loved that he could get everyone to laugh. He was the life of the party and everyone gravitated towards him because of it.

Besides adoring and spoiling Kat and Colette, he enjoyed being outside. He like mowing the lawn with his rider, washing and waxing and driving his ‘57 Chevy and going horseback riding/camping on the weekends with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; daughter, Colette (Lance); grandson, Justin Hunt; brother, Ron (Margaret) Finne and sister-in-law, JoAnn Finne.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nels and Opal Finne; sisters, Lois Jean, Ardis (Martin) Dengler and brother, Wayne Finne.

Services will be announced at a later date.
