Jane Mary Matti, 78, of Dodge Center, MN passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, MN.
Jane was born on August 18, 1944, in Owatonna, MN to Herbert and Mary (Hrtanek) Johnson. She grew up in Austin, MN until her Junior year, when her dad got a job at Jostens in Owatonna. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1962. She was previously married to Virgil Vanstrom and together they had two children. She later met Hollis Matti and they married on June 12, 1982.
Jane worked at the West Concord Coop and then went on to work as a Librarian at the West Concord Elementary School. She enjoyed each and every student, especially reading the little Miss and Mr books to the children. She retired at the age of 55 from Triton High School. After her retirement she worked on their farm with Hollis.
Jane was a wonderful cook and baker. She looked forward to hosting for the Holidays and being with her family. She often played cards with her family and friends. She loved her animals. She raised sheep for many years and always had dogs and cats. Many of the animals found their way to the farm by luck or through adoption. She also loved to raise a garden and tend to her flowers, many would compliment how beautiful the farm was. There was a new flower bed around every corner. Above all, she simply loved to be with her family.
Jane is survived by her husband, Hollis Matti of Dodge Center, MN; children, Karen Vanstrom of Dodge Center, MN and Mike Vanstrom of Lancaster, SC.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to Fairview Care Center in Dodge Center, MN in Jane’s honor.
