Dodge County Renovation Reuse

Posted

A chance to give something a second life is the mission of the Dodge County Renovation Reuse located at 406 16th Street NW Kasson. It operates similar to the Salvation Army and Goodwill stores, but it is right here close to home.

You can drop off your good quality un-needed or un-used items and save them from the trash. Items are displayed in the building for sale and the proceeds go toward keeping the facility operating. All donations must be in good working condition and the rule is don’t bring anything you wouldn’t purchase in its current working condition. Drop off and sale days and hours are Monday and Friday 9am to 4:30pm, Wednesday noon to 4:30pm and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays each month from 8 am to noon. There is a drop off fee of $5.00 per vehicle and the fee is waived on Wednesdays.

Acceptable items include; furniture in good condition with no rips, tears or stains, kitchen cabinets, sinks, countertops, fixtures and hardware, bathroom vanities, sinks, tubs, fixtures and accessories, kitchen ware items, selected household items and home décor. Building materials that are usable including partial boxes, lighting fixtures, windows, doors, flooring and wall coverings and tools(power tools must work). Sporting goods, exercise equipment and outdoor toys are all acceptable.

Things that are not acceptable include; damaged furniture or items, clothing, textiles or shoes, mattresses, box springs or sofa sleepers. Paint, chemicals or liquids, televisions and computers, fluorescent lighting, used carpet, particle board furniture, cribs, strollers or infant items, entertainment centers, desks or pianos and large musical instruments.

There are special events and sales scheduled, which are posted on the Dodge County website and the Facebook page Dodge County Renovation Reuse. One of them coming up next month will be the Fix It Clinic on Sunday March 15 from 1 to 4pm. Volunteers help repair small appliances, clothes, electronics, toys and more for free. No need to pre-register, just come in first come, first served. There is a limit of two items per family and items are accepted up to a half an hour before closing time. The location is the Dodge County Government Building at 721 Main Street North in conference room B.
