As I go through the day, probably like many of you out there, I often find myself contemplating on the majesty of God and saying: “God, you are such an awesome God!” In this short article, I would like to briefly share with you a few things about this majestic God, the God of the Bible. He is my God and the God of all those who put their trust in Him.
As most of you know, the theory of evolution says that life began millions of years ago by a cosmic accident called “The Big Bang”. It states that we are only complex animals with no ultimate purpose or meaning in life and our final destiny is to become worm-food, rotting in a grave. On the other hand, the Biblical account of creation (which I strongly believe in) states that we are a special and unique creation of God and life has a great purpose. It also teaches that our final destiny is to live forever with God in the place called Heaven; that we have been created in the image of a God who loves us and has a wonderful plan for our lives. My question to you dear reader is “Who do you choose to believe?” and Who do you think “shaped” our DNA into our DNA to make us, us?
While for the most part, I have respect for science, I chose to believe the Biblical account of creation. Believe the theory of evolution, and you will be viewed as an evolving species that just biologically came into existence. I believe the Bible account that we have been made by hand. We are handmade by God in His image and we matter to Him. Folks, the God of the Bible is ETERNAL. This reminds me of the boy who once prayed, “Dear God, please take care of my daddy and my mommy and my sister and my brother and my doggy and me. Oh, and please take care of yourself, God. If anything happens to you, we are going to be in a big mess.” Aren’t you glad that nothing happens to the Holy One? He is here today. He was here yesterday, and He will be here tomorrow. What an awesome God! Besides being the creator and the giver of life, here are a few more things about Him:
• He is our Sustainer -“Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.” Psalm 54:4
• He is our Shelter- “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1
• He is our Salvation – “She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because He will save his people from their sins." Matthew 1:21
In every season of life, God proves Himself to be truly awesome. When we are weak, He sustains us. When we are troubled, He shelters us. When we are lost in sin, He offers us salvation through Jesus Christ. His love never fails, His power never diminishes, and His presence never leaves us. As we place our trust in Him daily, may we live with confidence, knowing that our awesome God is always working for our good and for His glory. No challenge is too great for Him, and no need is beyond His ability to meet. May our hearts continually praise Him, our faith remain firmly anchored in Him, and our lives testify to the goodness of our awesome God.
